Some of the Best Romantic Movies for the Weekend

The weekend is coming up and you have some time to spend with yourself. Or maybe you’ve got some quality time coming up with a special sweetie where you have a chance to cuddle up on the couch. No matter what the case may be, a romantic movie might be the perfect thing to accompany the occasion. That’s the great thing about movies like these, you can experience them on your own just as easily as you can watch them with someone you love. They can make you feel happy about life in general while renewing your face in the power of love. And if nothing else, they are a great way to kill two hours while being able to connect with the story that highlights the ultimate human experience. While Hollywood seems to have an increasing amount of trouble producing quality romantic movies these days, thankfully there is a wide selection of classics available on DVD or through downloads. Here are some suggestions for the best romantic movies you might want to revisit or watch for the very first time.

Sleepless in Seattle – this is one romantic movie that has aged incredibly well even if it wouldn’t be as believable if it occurred in modern times. It basically boils down to two main characters that we can root for while they pursue true love. It’s the perfect combination of happy coincidence and real life circumstances that makes it a classic modern fairytale with a wonderful ending.

When Harry met Sally – it’s a sad fact that many teenagers have no idea that this movie even exists. But if it wasn’t for this great classic, there wouldn’t be all of the familiar “rom-coms” that we have today. This was the first great romantic comedy that essentially sealed the deal on a formula that has been copied so many times since.

Wall-E – this is one great Pixar classic probably wouldn’t be considered an outright romantic movie by some people. It also has heavy elements of action and a deeper message related to environmentalism. But if you cut down to the core of the movie, it is a love story that is more human than anything we’ve seen in a long time, which is rather ironic because the two main characters are robots.

Titanic – many people would consider this the grand-daddy of romantic movies. Even though it is a bit longer than three hours, most people have already seen it a few times before. It’s got a little bit of something for everyone and that means guys and girls can enjoy it equally. And unlike every other movie on this list, it has a rather bittersweet ending that makes it even more powerful.
