Of course you did, because everyone that has a website wants more traffic. Duh. But if you ask website owners if they know how to build traffic to their site, they’ll usually answer with a blank stare.
Sure, everyone knows that you should promote your website, putting it on business cards, posters, etc. But what about people finding you through Google for something OTHER than your name?
This is the secret sauce and we’re gonna reveal the recipe.
Imagine for a moment that you walked into Coca-Cola HQ and they said they were gonna tell you what the secret formula is. Would you listen up? Well, that’s what I’m about to share with you… the secret formula for getting found in Google.
The first ingredient – anchor links
Anchor links are links on real word phrases, not domains.
For instance, www.cre8tives.org and creative blogs are two totally different types of links.
The first is only good for people who click on it. It’s virtually worthless as far as Google searches are concerned.
The second is what Google really likes, because it tells them what the link is about. When Google searches through this site and finds a link to your site, if the link is on a phrase like poster art and Google goes to your page and finds the words “poster art” all over that page, then it thinks “ah! this must be about poster art!”
So how do you know what kinds of phrases to use?

This ingredient is about finding good keyword phrases that match your content, have low competition and a decent amount of traffic. There are a couple of different ways to do keyword research and we have a lot of tips for you, but it’s better to read that later.
