So much of the activism surrounding the climate change issue uses language that, while accurate, produces a sub-consciously negative effect. Phrases like “stop global warming”, “fight climate change”, “end global warming”, etc may be technically correct, but words like “end, stop, fight, reduce, limit, curb” etc can all create a background hum of negativity, leading to apathy and inaction.
Meditating on this notion, I started brainstorming for ways of talking about climate change that used positive, reinforcing and inspiring language. Words like “prosper, build, create, develop” all have profoundly different affects on the mind.
The result was a climate change video that looks at the amazing things that are happening around the world, with the intent of inspiring motivated, passionate action. Another world is possible and it’s up to us to build it.
